Things that make me happy include my relationships with my college best friend, Nicole, left, and with my sister, Ali, right. (Instagram filter X-Pro II and horizontal blur were used on this photo.)

Thought Catalog‘s Ryan O’Connell recently explained to the Huffington Post what it is that makes 20-somethings happy.

While some of his reasons are superficial (or kind of mean) –  including having people profess their love to you on the Internet, the perfect jeans and seeing people from your high school become fat and miserable –  others things on O’Connell’s list I agree with (you can find the whole list here).

Things that make O’Connell, me and a slew of other 20-somethings happy are:

  • Loving — and not fighting with — your parents: Since high school, my relationship with my parents has been great and invaluable. It took about 17 years for me to really appreciated how much crap they put up with almost daily.
  • Finding money in your pocket that you forgot was there: Always awesome, no matter if it’s $1 or $100.
  • Getting letters in the mail: Actual letters that aren’t bills or catalogs (My first Twenty & Change post tackled this topic)
  • Having someone you love pick you up at the airport: It’s nice not to have to wrestle your bags off the carousel by yourself — and to see a friendly face after a long flight.
  • Free things: Food, books, clothes, anything that you didn’t have to pay for. My love of free things was at its height in college, but I still find it difficult to turn down free T-shirts.

(On a similar note, check out 1,000 Awesome Things. It’s sometimes the little things that are the greatest.)

So what makes you happy? What would you add to O’Connell’s list?
